Add to MY PASS

An integral part of the local culture and charm, music is timeless and ageless in The Pass.

The Crowsnest Pass Symphony Orchestra, one of the most enduring amateur orchestras in Western Canada, was founded on musical talent and youth mentorship, and continues to provide opportunities for everyone to enjoy music.

With members as young as 12 and as old as 80, the Crowsnest Pass Symphony Orchestra has enjoyed a loyal stream of members since its formation in 1925.

For nearly a century, the Orchestra has served as a beacon to musically-minded residents of the area and has encouraged them to come together, hone their skills, and share their gifts with audiences large and small

The orchestra has alternated between a string orchestra and a full orchestra (including woodwinds and brass) – and is currently operating as a full orchestra.
Led by long-time musician and conductor Jerry Lonsbury, (the orchestra’s conductor for nearly two decades) the group currently features 30 members hailing from Crowsnest Pass, Lundbreck, Cowley, Pincher Creek, Sparwood and Fernie., and is open to welcoming new players to their ranks.

Receiving accolades in local publications, the Orchestra is popular and regularly brings together residents and visitors to partake in a shared musical experience.

The orchestra’s public performance schedule typically consists of three to four concerts per season (mid-September to mid-May). For more information contact Pam Somerville, President 1-403-753-0312; or Jerry Lonsbury, Conductor at
