Creative Collab

July 3, 2018

One of the newer additions to Coleman’s creative community – The Artist Collective Studio – is a multi-purpose artistic hub in Crowsnest Pass, acting as a gallery, studio, and venue for local events. In April 2014, a group of artists gathered to create an ‘artist family,’ a supportive environment for artists who find inspiration in The Pass.

The family consists of five permanent artists, but new artists are encouraged to join the Collective as an Artist-In-Residence. The unique environment of the Studio aids in the creative process, as fellow artists share their guidance, critique, and technical knowledge.

For artists really looking to escape, the Studio offers weekend and weeklong artist retreats to connect artists with their craft, their community, and their natural surroundings.

Visitors and locals are encouraged to practice their own medium alongside the established artists at Open Studio Sessions, which happen regularly during the fall and winter months. If you are keen to try your hand at landscape painting, textile printing, figure drawing and more, The Artist Collective Studio also offers monthly workshops, dates and times available on their Facebook page.

Every May, The Studio is open to the public every Mother’s Day weekend for Crowsnest Pass’s Artist Studio Tour, during which the Studio opens its doors to the public for a weekend of tours, demonstrations, and art sales. The artists in residence typically break for the summer months, so the Studio operates seasonally, opening in early fall through to the late spring. Keep in mind that The Artist Collective Studio a working studio, so visitors should call or email ahead of time to confirm an appointment.

If you are looking to looking to commission a one-of-a-kind art piece, plan a creative adventure, or explore The Pass’s creative talents, The Artist Collective Studio is an excellent place to start.
