Snowmobiling in The Pass attracts riders from all over Canada, and with its breathtaking views and more than 1,000 kilometres of snowmobile-specific trails.

The snowmobiling season in Crowsnest Pass usually kicks off at the end of November, and continues until the beginning of May. This long season is credited to the dry, fluffy powder snow that is typical of the area’s winter precipitation.

The CrowSnow Riders, a local organization of enthusiasts, recommend that anyone heading out to snowmobile ensure they have safe riding practices, are prepared for emergencies, and have appropriate gear. Dressing in layers, and bringing food, water and a First Aid kit are essential.

For the beginner

The Atlas Staging area is a long, easy loop, with a snowmobiles shelters about 60 km into the route. The shelter is an excellent place to stop for a picnic lunch around one of the fire pits.

For the advanced rider

For intermediate riders, the area around the base of Crowsnest Mountain, Window Mountain and York Creek Basin have many terrain options for a range of skill levels.
