Chef's Table

July 3, 2018

It’s like having the best of the Food Network performed in live theatre – where tasting the resulting dish is a reality.

Lucky attendees gather in the kitchen and watch Dawn Rigby work her magic at an interactive, open counter.

Dawn and Mark Rigby, owners and operators of local B&B Country Encounters Hospitality in Coleman, are both professional chefs who have fostered a multi-faceted, food-focused catering operation, in addition to the brand new Tapas and Wine bar near the B&B.

They not only cook meals for their guests, but they also cater weddings and other events, and host cooking classes in their kitchen.

Dawn is keen to share her expertise with locals and guests through both pre-planned and custom cooking classes. The theme of each planned class is announced on Facebook, where anyone interested can sign up to attend. For those planning to attend the area, contact Dawn and ask about custom classes.

The most popular theme night is “local foods,” which includes an in-depth lesson on preparing local fare – such as elk meatballs served with a Saskatoon berry sauce.

See what Dawn and Mark are cooking up by visiting the County Encounters on Facebook page or following Dawn on Twitter. For more information on catering and accommodations, visit their website.

Country Encounters Hospitality is located in a historic building in downtown Coleman.
